Going into finals with 72% and a final worth 30%, an 82% score on the exam will land you at 75%: (75 − 72 × 0.70) ÷ 0.30 = (75 − 50.4) ÷ 0.30 = 82. Notice that even a perfect final only brings you to 80.4%, so aim high but know the ceiling. If you score below 82%, you will finish below your 75% target.

Where the final takes you
How it's calculated
The required final score is derived from the weighted-average course grade formula: course grade = current × (1 − w) + final × w, where w = finalWeight / 100. Rearranging to isolate the final exam score gives: required = (target − current × (1 − w)) / w. The best-case course grade assumes a perfect 100 on the final; the worst-case assumes 0. Both are computed from the same formula with the final score substituted in.
